Why do children love live plays? What is it about live acting, that the biggest movie screen can't reproduce? I feel that it has to do with seeing real people, people obstensively like me, living life situations, before my eyes. I can here their footsteps and I could go up on stage and touch them. They are in the same room as me.
It is true that the special effects are less than on the silver screen. But The action is in a more realistic environment, in an environment that I am familiar with. They are people in a room. If the acting is excellent and the scenery is well done then I could come to believe that they are in a different time and place. Just like the actors are portraying a different setting, since I am in the room with them, I am pulled into that new setting, at least in my imagination. This gives me an experience of being there which is almost real and greatly enriches my life.
